Congratulations to Alejandro G Iñárritu, winner of this year’s DGA Award for Directorial Achievement for The Revenant. Alejandro made history this weekend, being the first director to win back-to-back at the DGA Awards, taking home last year’s directorial award for Birdman.
From Slate:
Iñárritu joins a very small but notable group of filmmakers to have won the award twice, including Clint Eastwood, Ang Lee, and Frances Ford Coppola. He is, however, the first and only director to win twice successively. Iñárritu is one of only two Mexican filmmakers to have won an Academy Award, and the only one to have won Best Picture. If Iñárritu manages the coup of winning two consecutive Oscars—for either Best Director or Best Picture—it would be a historic victory.
Alejandro recently won the 2016 Golden Globes for Best Picture and Best Director, as is up for the same categories at this year’s Academy Awards.
